We always try to have at least one fire pit experience each Summer, and of course, we toast marshmallows and sandwich them between chocolate thins. I like to think of myself as quite a skilled marshmallow roaster! Patient enough to get the centre gooey and the outside crisp without the whole thing combusting into flames and becoming a charcoal mess! And it’s also quite a skill to keep an eye on the smoke and stay out of it as much as possible.
My kids always loved roasting marshmallows. We got smart and allocated each child their own bowl of marshmallows and chocolate thins, otherwise the boys were super speedy with their toasting so they could get as many as possible before the packet was empty! One year, their grandparents had them and all their cousins to stay for the weekend (quite a feat – 8 kids under 7 years old) – they had an Indian themed weekend complete with a teepee, cardboard headdresses made with feathers found on Omaha beach, and a campfire…complete with marshmallows. What amazing memories they built that weekend.
Introducing Flora’s Marshmallow Memories. A perfectly soft pink, opening from a white centre (not lemon like it might look in some of the photos!). I’d call this a medium sized decorative, and she has the most amazing thin but iron-strong dark stems. The plant is a little bit shorter growing than my other varieties, but I wouldn’t call her a shortie.
