Would it even be Summer without the classic kiwi dessert - Pavlova!
In our family, it’s my Dad (the market gardener) who is the expert Pav maker!
Every Christmas he produces a family-gathering-sized Pav, decorated with cream and strawberries/blueberries.
His Pavs are soft and marshmallowy with a hint of a crunchy crust, and there’s never any leftovers.
To be honest, I’m not quite sure what the story is behind Dad deciding to be the Pav maker in our family - I’ll have to ask him and get back to you!
Flora’s Dad’s Pav is a chunky-sized white (but nowhere near a dinner-plate size) with blooms that are predominantly more upward-facing (which I honestly love using in my bouquets… I’m not sure where people’s dislike of upward-facing blooms comes from!) It’s very like ‘Bride to Be’, but larger.
I love it because it’s a different size and texture from my other whites. Definitely a Summer sweetie
