Flora's Dear John

My Dad John is undoubtedly the reason I’m a flower farmer today. Not only has he happily provided the land for me to grow on, I think he literally gave me my green-fingers! As a ‘stay-at-home’ Dad back in the 70’s, he was in charge of looking after me several days each week. I spent my preschool days following him around our market garden, covered in the same Point Wells peat soil that I now grow my flowers in. I’m so grateful that he realised he wasn’t cut out for an office job, and needed to be outside working with his hands growing things.

Flora’s Dear John is the most purple dahlia I’ve seen…I’ve tried and tried to capture the tone on camera, but it really is more purple in real life. I’d describe it as a smaller ball in a rich purple (with a slight white undertone). It’s super reliable with long strong stems, and is a great repeater …very generous, just like my Dad!
