If you’re a flower farmer or a keen gardener, I’m guessing you’re well acquainted with the dawn. That gorgeous time of day when it’s cool, peaceful, and still. The light has a gentle quality and makes everything look magical. And if you time it right (maybe while you’re still gathering your tools or drinking your cuppa), you get treated to the wonder of the sun rising on a new day. I find it’s a good time of day for some deep thinking, and it’s usually when I come up with my dahlia names!
Now in its 3rd year of growing, this dahlia is near the top of my top 10 list. It has good sized blooms without being over-sized, and a glorious colour palette with hints of peach, pink and lemon. I find it is more peachy at the start of the season, and more pale lemon as the season progresses. It’s a firm favourite with my wholesale customers, and I use or sell every single stem.
