Flora’s Original Dahlia Collection
YEARS IN THE MAKING
Introducing the FLORA collection of cut-flower dahlias.
We’ve grown thousands of dahlias from seed over the past four years, carefully selecting outstanding varieties each season for further evaluation as potential cut flowers. Our primary selection criteria has been their performance on our flower farm.
Our business is founded on the desire to deliver joy through flowers, while prioritizing flexibility and family time…the elusive work/life balance! We take great pride in our new dahlia varieties, and each one feels like part of our family. We’ve tried to capture the essence of joy, well-being and family in the names we have chosen for them, and we hope you enjoy reading the story behind each one.
We trust that you fall in love with some of our dahlias, and they become as valuable additions to your cutting collection as they are to ours.

THE PRESALE
We are excited about getting our new Flora dahlia varieties out to your fields and gardens!

OUR TUBERS
Because these are our own original dahlia varieties, they have only been grown on our farm - they are definitely not imports!
Dahlia viruses have become a major issue in NZ, mainly introduced on imported tubers. We are vigilant about removing any plants we suspect of having virus, and protecting our tuber health at every step of the process. Our snips are sterilised between every plant when pinching out young plants, harvesting flowers, cutting down at the end of the season and dividing tubers. What we can’t control is the sucking insects that can also spread virus, so we can’t give a 100% guarantee that our tubers are virus-free, but we feel they are as close as we can get!
Tuber size will vary, as tubers of different varieties are also different shapes and sizes. Some of the tiniest tubers produce the best plants - size is not an indication of health.
IF YOU HAVE ISSUES
Please check your tubers on arrival, and get in touch within 48 hours if you have any issues, including damage during shipping.
There are so many factors that affect a plant’s health and growth, so we cannot take any responsibility for how you store, plant, care, harvest or propagate from your plant after you have received it.
We have an extensive labelling and mapping system to keep track of our varieties, but we accept that we’re not perfect and human error happens. If you receive a tuber that you think is mislabelled, please send us a photo once it is flowering, and we will be very apologetic and will put you at the top of the list for a replacement of that variety for the next season.
